There is countless possible cannabidiol (CBD) oil applications being discovered continuously by researchers.  Although in-depth studies on this subject matter continue, the increasing and current data on CBD is very promising.  We look at why CBD oil every day is a part of many people’s routine.

CBD: What is it?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the most thoroughly researched cannabinoids in the cannabis plant. According to animal and preclinical human studies, results are positive when applied to a wide range of conditions.

More importantly, CBD has no psychoactive properties. This is one of the reasons why cannabidiol has become so popular among the broader community.

CBD Oil: So what?

Why is the usage of CBD every day becoming so popular for humans and animal use? Well, scientists all over the world have discovered that CBD compounds are closely connected to the interaction between cannabidiol (CBD) and the human endocannabinoid system (ECS). By binding to certain and unique cannabinoid receptors, CBD has been shown in various studies to stimulate these receptors.  This, in turn, reportedly enhances the vast majority of the body’s functions. That is, the enhancing of the signaling and function in the central nervous system (CNS).

It has been found during scientific research that one of the most common CBD oil applications is the ability to reduce inflammation.   This is why scientists believe cannabidiol (CBD) could possibly be capable of fighting auto-immune diseases, chronic pain, arthritis, bowel and liver diseases as per their independent research.

It has been suggested by this research that CBD may indirectly improve anti-inflammatory effects. Clinical studies have confirmed that “CBD reduces the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, inhibits T cell proliferation, induces T cell apoptosis and reduces migration and adhesion of immune cells” [1].

Recent studies indicate that CBD may influence the body’s metabolism and provide greater control of blood sugar levels. A study conclusion states, “CB2 receptor stimulation may exert beneficial effects against various diabetic complications…”[2,3].

CBD has also gained attention as a useful supplement among professional athletes such as Derrick Morgan (NFL linebacker), Eugene Monroe (former NFL offensive tackle), and Yair Rodriguez (UFC fighter).

Most people associate cannabis with a stimulated appetite, as people tend to feel hungry after using cannabis. While THC may cause hunger,  the authors of one 2018 study noted that the CB1 receptor antagonists may help reduce this. This is because CB1 receptor antagonists may block off or in other words “deactivate” the particular receptor involved.

CBD: Our brain

Nevertheless, CBD oil applications don’t end just at bodily functions. Scientists have exclusively researched the compound in various ways.  The findings are positive in regards to cannabidiol.  In summary, results show potential for multiple symptom domains, including reducing arousal and avoidance, preventing the long-term adverse effects of cortisol (the stress hormone), as well as enhancing the extinction, and blocking the reconsolidation of persistent fear memories.

As you can see, there are numerous CBD oil applications and uses.  And we still haven’t explored the full potential of this incredible cannabinoid!   Do you know what’s the best thing is? Unlike prescription and over-the-counter drugs, CBD is not known to involve any harmful side effects. In the worst-case scenario, CBD may cause dry mouth, dizziness, or low blood pressure.
