What is CBD Oil?

“Cannabidiol is a phytocannabinoid discovered in 1940. It is one of 113 identified cannabinoids in cannabis plants, along with tetrahydrocannabinol, and accounts for up to 40% of the plant’s extract” [1].  And, fortunately for consumers of CBD SKY products, there is zero THC after we use nanotechnology to remove all traces of this psychoactive compound from the end product.

How do CBD Topicals Work?

The main difference between CBD capsules and CBD oil tinctures is the way you administer them.  Unlike capsules, CBD oil is dispensed via a dropper to measure out the desired amount.  Oil is absorbed via sublingual consumption or under the tongue. As such, this allows the CBD to enter the bloodstream avoiding the digestive system. And results in a faster onset and increased bioavailability.

With CBD topicals, the CBD enters the body via the application of the product directly to the skin.

From there, CBD interacts with your endocannabinoid system (ECS) to begin achieving your cannabidiol goals.

Here’s what you need to know about both types of CBD:

Full-spectrum CBD: CBD Sky products labeled as “full-spectrum” are made using the whole hemp plant. As such, they contain all the naturally occurring compounds in hemp, including cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids.  Full-spectrum CBD is preferred by certain individuals over isolates due to the entourage effect they create. The entourage effect is the synergy between the aforementioned compounds.

CBD Isolate: CBD Sky isolates are exactly what they sound like — single molecules which are usually available in a crystal form.  They are then powdered and can be infused into a variety of products. The advantage of isolates is that they have no odor or flavor.  If you dislike the earthy taste of hemp, you may prefer the isolated version of the single compound of CBD.  However, since there are no other compounds than CBD in the product, you will not be receiving the entourage effect via the ECS.

Is CBD Sky CBD Topicals Safe?

The short answer is yes.  CBD has a well-established safety profile.  Even doses as high as 1,500mg daily are well-tolerated in humans.

That being said, a small minority of the community can experience a few minor side effects.  These include a dry mouth, lowered blood pressure, appetite changes, fatigue, or diarrhea.

Fortunately, these side effects are very rare. And importantly, are short-lived.

We also recommend that you consult your doctor before incorporating CBD into your routine.  CBD has a long list of potential interactions with drugs.  Similar risks apply to eating grapefruit with your medication.  That’s why a consultation with a qualified physician is important.
