Meet a Mom Who Regained Her Health Using CBD Oil For Eczema

Almost 32 million Americans suffer from some sort of eczema. On the global scale, around 20 ercent of children and three percent of the adult population show eczema symptoms. Interestingly, more than 70 percent of eczema cases begin in children under the age of five, with 60 percent of infants with eczema symptoms likely to develop more of them in adulthood.

With eczema being such a prevalent problem, many people are looking for effective therapies to treat it. Prescription drugs only mask the symptoms of eczema, while the root of the problem remains untouched. Among the plethora of health benefits offered by CBD, can we find something useful in CBD oil for eczema?

This is where CBD Could Help

Studies have repeatedly shown that CBD has powerful health-enhancing properties that can help a variety of skin conditions, and apparently, eczema goes by the same token.

In this article, we shed light on the use of CBD oil for eczema. We are also going to share two success stories of mothers who have managed to win with the condition with Cannabidiol when doctors have already written off their hope.

All aboard!

What Is Eczema?

Eczema is a broad term used to define certain skin rashes, usually characterized by inflamed, dry and scaly skin patches. These rashes appear in trouble places, such as behind the knees, on hands, feet, inside the elbows, or on the face. The condition affects people of all ages, but children are particularly exposed to its symptoms.

Eczema can be mild or truly severe, ranging between individuals. In the most extreme cases, the rashes are very itchy and painful, causing continuous discomfort. It can happen that the rash becomes swollen, which makes the condition even worse. Eczema sufferers often struggle with low sel-esteem because of the poor self-image caused by those ugly spots.

Why Do People Suffer from Eczema

Answering this question is key to understanding how the use of CBD oil for eczema actually works. Unfortunately, there is no definitive evidence to show what exactly causes rashes and outbreaks.

Scientists agree that it may be a combination of genetics and environmental factors. That could actually make sense, since people with eczema are generally sensitive to many products, such as certain fabrics, perfumes, soaps, and lotions. Furthermore, eczema can be triggered by stress, sweat, humidity changes, weather fluctuation, pollen, or other allergenes.

Interestingly, some foods can cause eczema, too. People suffering from this condition must avoid products like milk, soy, peanuts, fish, or eggs. If your eczema turns out to be a dietary issue, then you might want to consider implementing serious changes in your nutrition plan.

Before we move on to how the use of CBD oil for eczema can be effective in fighting the condition, let’s talk about traditional treatments for eczema.

How Doctors Usually Treat Eczema?

At the time of writing, there are several prescription medications available to help patients who suffer from mild to severe cases of eczema. Perhaps the most common forms of treatment are steroid creams. While they can prove to be very effective in fighting the symptoms of the condition, their use netails a few downsides. Moreover, some patients report little to no relief when using such medications.

The Side Effects of Anti-Eczema Medications

Speaking of the potential downsides, steroid creams have to be cycled. In other words, you can use the cream every day for two weeks. However, you need to take a two-week break. During this break, many patients notice that their eczema rashes come back again, sometimes with a doubled strength.

With their backs against the wall, some patients are trying to strengthen the effects of steroid creams with many more solutions, including over-the-counter topicals, soaps and salves, but eczema is sometimes incredibly tricky and difficult to fight. This is the main reason why some desperate eczema sufferers turned to CBD oil for help.

CBD Oil for Eczema: Scientific Studies

According to a 2007 study conducted by Nottingham University, and published in the Journal of Dermatological Sciance, cannabinoids can aid people who suffer from skin conditions. The study showed that CBD can fight and prevent numerous eczema symptoms, such as the characteristic itchy, red and dry skin.

Moreover, as a 2009 review from the Trends of Pharmacological Sciences stated,

“Recent studies have intriguingly suggested the existence of a functional ECS in the skin and implicated it in various biological processes (e.g. proliferation, growth, differentiation, apoptosis and cytokine, mediator or hormone production of various cell types of the skin and appendages, such as the hair follicle and sebaceous gland).“

The above indicates that the main physiological function of the cutaneous endocannabinoid system is responsible for maintaining a wel-balanced proliferation and immune competence and/or tolerance of skin cells.

Any disruption of this fragile balance might trigger the development of many pathological conditions and illnesses of the skin. This includes seborrhea, eczema, acne, allergic dermatitis, psoriasis, hair loss, and cancer.

Simply put, the scientific evidence gives rise to the belief that CBD actually can help balance the skin and improve its health by managing the cell life-cycle. On top of that, Cannabidiol can encourage the formation of healthy cells. Whenever the endocannabinoid system goes out of whack, certain skin conditions, such as eczema, can occur.

Cheryl has been struggling with ecema flare-ups all around her neck and face every few days for the last four years. Eczema has started to attack her skin since she gave berth to her daghter Alexis.

Being regularly left with red, dry and sore skin that cracked open leaving open wounds, Cheryl became so embarrassed by her appearance and cripplet by the pain that she stopped going outside.

“It really began when I fell pregnant with Alexis when I was around 23 years old,’ says Cheryl. Rashes started on my back and cleared up after a course of steroids. But straight away it flared up on my face and neck and has been constant ever since. It would flare up every couple of days depending on what I was eating. And, of course, it would be an uncontrollable itch.

No cream I put on it would soothe it, in fact, it would often make it worse. I would feel like I wanted to rip my skin off. ‘I felt like I couldn’t go on anymore as I was just not getting any answers from the doctors.

On bad days I wasn’t even able to take my daughter to nursery or would be unable to work or leave the house and a combination of antihistamine and painkillers would make me drowsy.”

Yes, she checked her treatment options… but to no avail.

Cheryl went to several doctors trying to find a solution, but every physician prescribed her steroid creams, tablets, or recommended light treatment. Which, of course, she did try but received no long-term relief.

In August this year, Cheryl was hospialized because her flare-ups became overpowering, and she was no longer able to put up with her condition.

“I couldn’t move my face and neck and there were open wounds on my chest that were weeping. I was was cold and shaky and felt like I wanted to be sick, and was placed on a drip overnight to treat the infection that had gotten into my skin. All my tests came back normal and doctors wanted to discharge me so I could be treated at home but I broke down to a nurse as I felt like I couldn’t go on. It seemed there was never going to be an answer.”

Her last resort appeared to be… CBD hemp oil.

It didn’t take long for Cheryl to realize that nothing can go worse at that point. It was then that she decided to give CBD oil a shot. She found out that through vaporizing CBD oil for Eczema, this naturally ocurring plant compound had an astonishing effect on her skin.

After two weeks of regularly vaping CBD oil, her skin went back to being perfectly normal. Cheryl’s friends couldn’t believed that she had suffered an eczema flare-ups. More interestingly, she could even eat foods that had previously triggered eczema symptoms.

“At first I tried the liquid form but found I hated the taste, but I discovered the vape shop was selling it when I walked past one day. ‘I’ve not looked back since.

I’ve been able to go shopping with my little girl, even go back to work. Alexis has noticed the difference as she always had to stay in the house with me. I have been able to eat bread and other things I haven’t eat in a long time without flare-ups and even had a glass of wine. I hope it continues to work so I can lead a normal life.”

CBD Oil for Eczema: Is Cheryl’s Story an Isolated Case?

Tanya Dyer suffered from eczema since she was one year old. At first, the condition affected only the areas behind her knees and Tanya could control it with emollient creams.

But when she turned 11, Tanya’s eczema worsened all of a sudden. It eventually spread over her whole body, and no steroid creams or frequent bandaging could bring relief to her suffering.

She became frustrated with her problem, feeling so uncomfortable, itching and scratching all the time.

“I would bandage myself every day, even in the summer, but nothing helped. In the end, I gave up and got hospitalized.”

Tanya ended up visiting a herbalist, who recommended hemp CBD oil. She started taking one teaspoon of the oil three times a day. She supported her efforts with a skin cream based on hemp oil on a daily basis.

“It took several weeks for my skin to turn from flaky and leathery to smooth and soft,”

says Tanya.

Given the anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative properties of Cannabidiol, these two examples can make a fine ground for further research on the use of CBD oil for Eczema.
